SimDisc
simdisc SimDisc Is it a pain for you to constantly switch out your CDs or DVDs? Do you need the information from your CDs/DVDs, but would prefer to have a safe archive rather than the original copy? Does it annoy you, every time you work with a notebook PC, how high the power consumption is for the CD/DVD drives? Would you be just plain happier if you could get better performance out of the CD/DVD drives in your computer?
SimDisc can install up to 63 (virtual) drives on your PC, which should generally be enough to keep all of the CD/DVD data you might want close at hand. Furthermore, SimDisc can itself create exact copies, or images, of your CDs and DVDs and store them on the hard drive, which means you can safely store away the originals with no muss, no fuss. After that, a single click puts the CD/DVD (image) of your choice in the virtual drive!
Of course, SimDisc works just as well over a network! It doesn't matter whether the CD/DVD image is on your machine or any other on the network, if you can access it then SimDisc can put it in the (virtual) drive of your PC all the same.
SimDisc is not only fast, but also a power saver. The performance of a computer's hard drive is simply better than that of a physical CD or DVD drive, and at the same time the physical power demanded by that of a hard drive is significantly less than its optical counterpart.

SimDisc Features :
  • SimDisc can install up to 63 virtual drives in Windows NT/2000/XP (in Windows 9x/ME the maximum number of drives hinges on the number of available drive letters still left on the machine after any real, physical drives have been installed, which on the most standard computer configurations is 23)
  • Full Featured Network Support: All of the virtual drives can be allowed free-range use across the local network, in both directions. A fitting example of SimDisc network capabilities is to create a CD-ROM server, a task that is perfectly possible with very little effort.
  • SimDisc supports nearly every Disc format, of course including Video and Audio CDs.
  • SimDisc extends the battery life of your notebooks, because optical drives require a lot of energy, while hard drives require very little in comparison. Simply convert your most needed CD/DVD into images on the hard disk to add hours of life to your notebook; carry a second battery instead of an optical drive and your notebook will soar to previously undreamt of heights, all without the use of pesky electrical outlets!
  • Create safe backups of your most important CD and DVD originals, and then store them away in a safe location, all the while working instead with the virtual discs.
  • Never play "Disc Jockey" again! The constant swapping of CDs is now a thing of the past! With SimDisc it takes but a click of the mouse!
  • Virtual Drives are faster than real optical drives - That means no more loading (and thereby waiting) time or jerky video playback.

    AudioJack FAQ
  • What is the current version of AudioJack?
You will always find the current version of AudioJack on www.audiojack.org.
  • I installed the program and want to see what stations are available, what do I do? Click on the Genre dropdown list and select all of the types of music you want to display. This will find all of the current stations available.
  • What is the "Record Now" button and how do I use it?
When this button is illuminated, it means that you can click on it and capture the entire song, EVEN if it is almost over. When the song ends, so does recording of that station.
  • Each station has a bitrate. What does that mean to me?
The higher the bitrate, the better the quality of the recorded music. In general, 128kbits is sufficient for near CD quality. For portable devices, such as MP3 players with headphones, a much lower bitrate will suffice.
  • What does a ¡°0¡± bitrate mean?
It may mean that the station is currently offline, but try playing the station and see what happens since this value is not continuously updated.
  • So now that I recorded what I like, how do I get it to play on a CD in my car?
Using the ¡°Convert Audio¡± function in AudioJack you can turn the MP3, OGG or any other format into a WAV, which can then be burned to a CD with the ¡°Burn CD/DVD¡± function.
  • How do I sort stations by Genre?
By clicking on ¡°Genre¡± you can select any type of music you like, then only those stations will appear for you to listen to/record.
  • Are there more stations available? How do I find them?
AudioJack allows you to go to an online database using the ;Get more stations button;. This list is continuously updated and growing. Currently there are more than 8000 available stations.
  • Not all of my of my songs are tagged with the artist and song title, why?
Stations which make use of ¡°ID3 tags¡± will automatically label your songs, not all stations broadcast this information. Fortunately, most do.
  • Sometimes the song I record is missing the beginning or has bits of the next song in it.
This is due to the individual radio station not properly using the ID3 tags, not all stations do this. There is a function in AudioJack which allows you to adjust each individual station to compensate for this.
  • recorded a show but can hardly hear anything when I play it back. Why?
There are two possible solutions to this problem. First if you were recording from an actual radio station, this should not happen, but you can easily fix it when editing by using the ¡°Normalize¡± function. Secondly, if you were recording from your soundcard, which would be the case if you were capturing from some ¡°other¡± audio source, check and see if there is a volume control available in that source. If there is, raise the volume up as far as possible without distorting the audio. Please note I am not talking about your speaker volume, but rather a software volume control in the player being used to listen to the audio.
    VideoJack FAQ
  • Is a demo version of VideoJack available?
Not yet, but we are working on it...
DCS - DVD Copy Suite FAQ
  • What is the current version of DCS?

Since 2003 there is a new german copyright law in Germany. The result is that it's not possible to copy protected Video-DVDs with the current versions of DCS.
  • Is it necessary to copy always the whole Video-DVD?
No, it's e.g. also possible to copy only the main movie... The recording with DCS was successful. But it's not possible to watch the movie on my DVD-Player... There are various DVD formats. Please check if your DVD Player is DVD+R or DVD-R compatible.
  • Can I transcode also Video-DVDs in the NTSC format?
Yes, DCS supports PAL and NTSC movies.
  • Can I copy also subtitles?
    Yes.
  • And can I copy also the various languages of a Video-DVD?
Yes, like e.g. the subtitles, all features of a Video-DVD can be copied.
  • How much harddisc space do I need to copy a Video-DVD? This is depending on the size of the original disc. Please calulate with 10 GB and you are on the safe side...
  • What do I need to play my Video-DVDs on my PC?
Please install of of the various software DVD Player like CineMaster, WinDVD, PowerDVD or the Windows Media Player.
  • Is it possible to convert movies from NTSC to PAL format?
No, because these are completly different formats. A conversion would result in audio and video problems...
