Add exif data such as date picture taken to jpeg files that do not have this data.
You can use the date feature of JPEG Japery to add exif meta-data such as date picture taken to jpeg files that do not already have this data.
Before using the following instructions, it is recommended that you back up your files first as a precaution.
1. Launch JPEG Japery.
2. Target your jpeg files in the main window.
3. Select the "Quick-Find/Dates" menu item from the main window.
4. In the dates window, select the "Change Date And Time" option (this will probably be selected by default).
5. Tick one of the internal date tick boxes. For example, exif tags support "Date Picture Taken", "Date Picture Modified" and "Date Picture Digitized", so tick one or more of these boxes.
Enter any date and/or time for one of these dates.
6. Click on "Start" to start the operation JPEG Japery FAQ
JPEG Japery takes a long time to start up, why? On a 64MB RAM Windows 98 computer, JPEG Japery should take about 2 to 4 seconds to load. Longer start up times may be attributed to the following factors:
1. Some 3rd party programs such as virus scanners
may interfere with JPEG Japery when it first loads thereby increasing
start-up time. Closing these 3rd party programs before launching
JPEG Japery should solve the problem.
2. Installing JPEG Japery over a network or on
a slow disk drive, floppy drive or cd will increase the time it
takes for JPEG Japery to start.
3. JPEG Japery saves the last target folder on
exit. When you load JPEG Japery, if there are more than 300 files
in that folder, JPEG Japery will display a progress bar while
loading targets. You can cancel this by clicking on the cancel
button.
4. JPEG Japery saves the last target folder on
exit. If this folder is on a slow disk drive, floppy drive or
cd, this will increase the time it takes for JPEG Japery to start.
5. JPEG Japery may be slower on older computers
with less than 64 MB RAM and/or processors of less than 400MHz
6. If your computer has not been optimized then
JPEG Japery and all other tasks on your machine will take longer
to run.
Over time, you may have accumulated programs and spyware that you no longer use. These will run in the background of your machine and eat your computers' resources.
You will need to remove these to speed up your computer.
How can I compress JPEGS by removing metadata?
- You can use the "Delete" feature of JPEG Japery to strip multiple jpeg files of their metadata.
- This feature will remove all metadata information such as internal dates, camera make, model and manufacturer notes. It will also remove all thumbnails that have been embedded into the image.
- You will end up with just the picture as a jpeg file.
- Other than recycle bin protection, there is no undo available for this operation (although you can use the "Date" feature if you want to re-insert metadata). If you are unsure about using this feature, we recommend that you use the "Copy" feature to create a backup copy of your files.
