Cyber What FAQ:
- Here's the list of questions that come up to my mind at the moment (version 1.0 :) sorry). As the time passes, this list will be updated.
Are there any hidden payments that I'll have to make to use Cyber-What!? No, the only thing you have to pay for is Server with support for number of Clients that you need. It's as cheap and simple as that. See buy section for details.
I can't connect to server. Make sure server is running. Make sure you got right the IP address and port where server application can be found (configure/network). Port has to be the same on Server and Client in order to establish connection.
I've connected to server, but other user statuses are displayed as broken cyan circles. I can't talk to them and can't hear them. There is a problem with IP Multicasting and IP multicasting has been setup as the only method of voice transfer. If users are more than one switch (or hub) away, too low value for multicasting range could be the cause (see Server network configuration help for details). Make sure that your network supports IP Multicasting. If this is not the problem, your network equipment may have to be reconfigured to enable Cyber-What!? communication - look for IP Multicasting configuration in your network equipment (usually a switch or router) documentation. If you can't get IP multicasting running, change voice transfer type to TCP/IP or Auto (see Server network configuration for details).
Everything seems to be OK (including little white balloon in other Client windows when I press talk), but I still don't hear anything. Check your sound mixer settings. Make sure that microphone input is selected and that it's volume is up to the max (volume control/options/properties/recording/ok). Make sure that your wave and master playback volume is not to low (volume control).
Everything works now, but from time to time balloon goes yellow, and i hear breaks in sound reproduction. Your network or computer lacks performance for current settings. Try setting bigger latency on Server (configure/sound), this way you'll use bigger sound buffers and will send bigger TCP/UDP packets, both of which could help. It is however normal to see (hear) break or two at the very start of sound playback - until voice stream stabilizes. If you only hear breaks in sound reproduction while your're minimizing or restoring windows, you can also try turning Windows 'transition effects' off (Display Properties/Effects/Use transition effects for menus and tooltips).
Some of the global shortcut configurations won't work. This can happen, because special key combinations are not being treated right at the moment. Try using other key combinations if some seem not to work properly. Don't use system combinations (like Ctrl+Esc, Alt+Tab and so on).
