- I'm getting error messages during the burning process. What should I do?
Try the following:
- Ensure you are using disks of a type that your burner supports, e.g. some burners do not support +R or RW formats
- Try burning at a slower speed than "Max" (You can set this on the last step of the Slideshow burning wizard)
- Try different disks. We often hear of problems burning to cheap, unknown brand disks
- Can I put multiple slideshows on a single disk?
Not at present, but this feature will be added in a coming update.
- If I chose the DVD format, can I write to a CD-R disk instead of a DVD-R?
Generally, yes. A DVD written to a CD disk is called MiniDVD format and is supported by many DVD players.
- How many images can be placed on a single disk?
DVD PixPlay creates a movie from your images, so there is not a specific limit on the number of images that can be added, only on the length (in time) of the slideshow. If you use the default VCD format option then each CD can contain around 60 minutes of slideshow, so if you set each image to be displayed for 10 seconds then that would equate to 360 pictures per CD.
If you choose the MPEG or DVD Format option you can also write directly to DVD disks, which will allow you to create a slideshow that is six times longer than this.
If you choose the Images Format option your slideshow is output in its native format (i.e. images and videos) and the number you can put on a single disk (either CD or DVD) will depend on their original size. You can automatically resize large images when exporting by clicking the "Other" button on Step 3 of the Burn Disk Wizard and choose the relevant option.
- I want to create a slideshow that will automatically display when it is inserted into a computer CD/DVD drive. How can I do that?
In the Burn Disk wizard you need to select one of the two final slideshow formats of "Images" or "MPEG". On the next step ensure the "Include Autorun Files" option is checked and click Next to burn it to a blank CD or DVD disk.
Note that with the MPEG option, you will need to specify the details of the format to use, which will control the size of the output video and the MPEG type. If you want the disk to also be playable by DVD players you should select one of the VCD compliant options (VCD, SVCD, etc). However not all DVD players can playback a solo MPEG file.
- When I use your X-VCD Player to display the VCD I created I get these messages "A problem occurred in initializing MCI" or "No MCI device open", then a screen appears with "AVSEQ01.DAT". Any suggestions?
This will occur if X-VCD Player is unable to access the MPEG codecs on your system which are necessary for displaying VCD files. Try the links in the About Box (of X-VCD Player) to see if that resolves the problem.
If you are trying to view an SVCD format disk then you may need an MPEG2 codec:
- Can I export a Power Point presentation to DVD PixPlay so I can play it on a DVD player?
Yes. The steps are as follows:
i. In Power Point select the option to export your presentation as a set of images
ii. Run DVD PixPlay and create a new project
iii. Click "Add Images" and browse to the folder where you saved the images from Power Point
iv. Click "Add All"
v. Edit the project further if desired (e.g. add background music)
vi. Click "Burn Disk"
- I get a "Send Cue Sheet Failed" Error when burning my slideshow to disk. What should I do?
On the last step of the Burn Disk wizard where you can select your CD/DVD drive, click the Advanced button and check the "Track at Once" option.
- I formatted a CD using Easy CD Creator, however when I tried to use the CD in PixPlay I got the error, "Incompatible CD Format". Do I need to format a CD for use in your software?
You shouldn't format a CD before use with PixPlay as it needs to write to the CD directly. Just use a rewritable CD or DVD (use the clear option on the last step of the wizard if the CD is partially used) or a blank CD or DVD.
- I have created a slideshow containing images and videos, how can I make it so that the video soundtrack is heard rather than the background music?
Presently DVD PixPlay can only use the sound track of the videos in a slideshow if there are no images (except after the final video). So you will need to do as follows:
i. Remove any title pages and images from your project (or move all of the videos to the start of the slideshow using the function Edit>Other>Move Videos to Start)
ii. Select Edit>Select Background Music on the menu
iii. On the dialog that is displayed choose the option to use the video soundtrack as the source of the slideshow sound (if you are presented with the usual background music dialog, rather than a window with the title "Video Soundtrack" then there are still images or title pages that are remaining in your project).
- I have a video in Windows Movie Maker that I captured from my video camera. How can I output it to DVD PixPlay so I can play it on a DVD player?
Here is the process for outputting a video from Windows Movie Maker and adding it to DVD PixPlay:
i. When you have laid out the video to your requirements in Movie Maker, select File>Save Movie File
ii. Choose the output to "My Computer" option
iii. On the Movie Settings tab, choose the other settings option and specify the format as: DV-AVI
iv. Click Next
When the file has been created run DVD PixPlay. If you only want to output this video to disk (and no other images/videos) select File>Export Single Video to Disk...
If you want to add it to a project with other images and/or videos select Edit>Add Images/Videos from the menu, select the folder containing the video, check the box below the thumbnail of it and click the Add button
- How can I specify the DVD chapter breaks, i.e. the frames that are displayed when I use the I< and >I buttons on my DVD player?
To specify the start of a DVD chapter right-click the thumbnail in the main window and select the "Start of DVD chapter" option. It will be displayed in DVD PixPlay as a red line between the frame thumbnails.
If no chapters are specified then DVD PixPlay will create its own chapter breaks which are evenly distributed at a frequency that depends on the number of images in the show.
